Design Challenge:
The main challenge in this living room was to add warmth, color and personality. The three family members wanted to make this area more inviting for them and their guests. As is, the room was not being used as it was considered uncomfortable and cold. Requests began with casual, comfortable, seating for 5-6 people; tables in varying materials, such as wood, metal, and glass; functional window treatments to block out the sun and lots and lots of colorful accessories.
Design Solution:
The project began with space planning for new furniture. Once a layout was decided on the shopping began. We quickly realized a leather sofa would give the family the comfort and durability they wanted, while a collection of upholstered chairs would dress up the space while adding additional seating. A rug was laid over the carpet to define the space and color (yea color!) was added to the walls for warmth. The space was finished with a variety of colorful accessories to reflect the family’s personality and style. They now have a living room they are happy to spend time in and show off to their friends.
